Stateless Flow-Zone Switching Using Software-Defined Addressing

The trend toward cloudification of communication networks and services, with user data applications stored processed in centers, pushes the limits current Data Center Networks (DCNs), requiring improved scalability, resiliency, performance. Here we consider a DCN forwarding approach based on software-defined addressing (SDA), which embeds semantics Medium Access Control (MAC) address thereby enables new processes. This work presents Flow-Zone Switching (FZS), loop-free location-based source-routing solution that eliminates need for tables by embedding routing instructions flow identifiers directly flow-zone address. FZS speeds process, increasing throughput reducing latency QoS-sensitive flows while capital operational costs switching. paper details performance evaluation within complete DCN.
